Is Your Child Having Trouble?

It is a parents' worst nightmare to discover that there is a pain that your child may have that you can't instantly make better. Pain is indiscriminate of age, gender, social class, race, orientation, family background, or even spiritual convictions. When emotional and behavioral issues are affecting a child’s ability to function in their daily lives, counseling or therapy can provide a route to wellness. Depending on the needs of your child and your family, certain types of counseling might work better than others.

Our youth counseling is designed for kids between the age of 7 - 17 years old. The techniques used are to assist the youth with understanding there emotions, how to label them, and connect them to experiences that drive behavior. One counseling goal is to reveal the love of Jesus, and ensure they have an understanding of their salvation. Another counseling goal is help them understand how emotions and behaviors can benefit or impair their future. A final goal can be created with the youth so they can focus on where they need the help.

How Does It Work?

The goals of faith-based counseling will be determined by the counselee in conjunction with their counselor.

Some of these goals might include:

  • Making sense of suffering and challenges in one’s life

  • Learning how to use spiritual or religious interventions to deepen one’s faith and increase coping skills

  • Finding purpose or meaning in life

  • Identifying religious or spiritual values to help to guide life decisions and choices

  • Learning how to forgive others or oneself, and how to ask for forgiveness

  • Connecting or reconnecting with a religious community.

These sessions can be weekly or bi-weekly with a recommended number of sessions that will be discussed with the counselee during their program design consultation.
